Hi! Thank you so much for dropping by my site. Have a cupcake and stay awhile! I’m excited to introduce you to my middle grade novels STICKS & STONES (2016), BUBBLES (2017), and HOW TO BUILD A BEST FRIEND (2019), and share fun interviews, photos, and more.
As a former teacher and school librarian, I’ve always had a passion for books and reading. At age ten, I created my own library for neighborhood kids. (Don’t tell anyone, but it was mostly an excuse to get an audience to listen to stories I’d written.) So collecting and sharing great reads has always been a big part of my life from a young age. I believe that all kids deserve amazing books that they love to read - books that make them laugh, cry, think, and feel. I’m so honored to write for them.
STICKS & STONES, BUBBLES, and HOW TO BUILD A BEST FRIEND explore what happens when unusual things happen in realistic settings. In STICKS & STONES, the names people call 12-year-old Elyse show up on her body and stick like temporary tattoos. In BUBBLES, 12-year-old Sophie is able to see what people are really thinking by reading the thought bubbles that appear over their heads. In HOW TO BUILD A BEST FRIEND, Jade’s imaginary best friend actually comes to life. I love using magical realism to explore questions and curiosities. I hope you enjoy reading my stories as much as I enjoy writing them!
